Slash Burning

While the Fire District does not allow control (slash) burning from Memorial Day through Labor Day there are still ways to get rid of your unwanted slash.

  • Summit County offers the free chipper program.  This program rolls through the community once this year to chip your slash that is left by the road.  More information can be found on the Chipping Program website or by visiting the Summit County Wildfire Council website.
  • The Summit County Resource Allocation Park (SCRAP) accepts wood, slash, and stumps.  More information can be found HERE.
  • Small amounts of slash can be burned in an approved fire pit that has a screen.  If you are located in the Town of Blue River, you will need to apply for a Recreational Fire Permit prior to burning.  The pit can be no larger than 3 feet in diameter and the fuel stacked no more than 2 feet high.  More information on recreational fires can be found HERE.
