Fire District Expresses Gratitude to Board Chairman Fire District Expresses Gratitude to Board Chairman; Seeks Replacement
Monday, November 05, 2007 - Breckenridge, CO
For nearly a decade, Bob Greenly presided over the Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District with a taskmaster approach and a mindful pledge to its motto, "Courage, Commitment, Caring". Greenly recently made the hard decision to step down from the Board of Directors. He and his wife, Marlene, plan to pare down an active community service role here in Summit County and spend more time in their native Minnesota, as well as in warmer locales.
Greenly guided the Fire District’s evolution over the last several years to meet the increasing service demand of a rapidly growing resort community. Along with the other Directors, Greenly maintained strict fiscally conservative oversight while authorizing service enhancement and capital improvements. "He is a truly balanced leader", described Fire Chief Gary Green, "an authoritative presence with a genuine sense of caring".
With his resignation, Greenly noted that "The current Board is one of the most diverse and hard-working groups I have had the pleasure of being associated with," and stressed that, "this District is in good hands".
In getting on with the business at hand, as Greenly would have no doubt demanded, the District Board, with new Chairman Randy Griffin, is accepting Letters of Interest from community members wishing to serve as Director. To qualify, a person must be a registered voter of Colorado and either a resident of the District or owner of real or personal property situated in the District. The Board will accept Letters of Interest until November 12, 2007, with an anticipated appointment of a Director in December. Board members meet on a monthly basis.
Please note the appointed Director will serve until May 6, 2008, at which time the appointed Director is required to seek election by the voters of the District. Letters of Interest can be emailed to:
